Hexed is Disney's Thanksgiving animated release, set for November 25. Walt Disney Animation Studios is billing it as its 65th feature, and it is an original story rather than a sequel, which I always like to see.

Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie and Rashida Jones voices Alice, a mother and daughter who are witches and who go on the run, according to the trailers. Tracey Ullman and Stephen Fry are in the cast. Later reports say Jodie Foster plays the villainous queen of witches and Walton Goggins is the voice of a green cat with three eyes, a name that I will not try to type out in full here.

Credits are reported a little differently from site to site. Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand are named as directors, and Josie Trinidad is listed as a co-director on some of them. I would rather say that plainly than guess at it.

The studio has had a mixed few years. Some of its originals have been warmly received and others have been overlooked. A witch story is a good fit for the end of the year, though, and a mother-and-daughter relationship gives it an emotional centre that families can recognise.

Will you take children to see this one, or save it for streaming? And which Disney original do you think deserves more love than it got?
