Season three of Nobody Wants This arrived on Netflix on October 22, ten episodes, and the reviews are mostly warm. The Hollywood Reporter's headline says the romance levels up but cannot ditch old habits, which is a fair summary of the problem facing a lot of long-running sitcoms. The Guardian gave it four stars out of five.

This season has Joanne and Noah living together, with Joanne starting Jewish conversion classes, while the stories of Sasha and Esther's separation and Morgan's tension with Sasha carry on. Justine Lupe, who plays Morgan, is being singled out as the one who shines this year.

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are joined by Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn, and the guest list includes Sarah Silverman, Andrew Rannells and Avan Jogia, plus a cameo from creator Erin Foster. Reviewers widely praise the chemistry between the leads, which was always the point of the show.

I find it interesting that the series has leaned on Sasha and Morgan, because it gives the leads room to be a couple instead of a problem to be solved. Whether a show can keep generating conflict between two people who have clearly decided to stay together is the question every romance faces after the chase is over.

It pulled 6.2 million views in the week of October 19 to 25, which put it second on Netflix's weekly series chart behind Below. Are you caught up, or saving it for a binge?
