All's Fair season 2 returns on Wednesday, November 4, with a three-episode premiere on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ elsewhere. It is eight episodes in total, with new ones every Wednesday and the finale on December 2. Kim Kardashian plays Allura Grant and Glenn Close plays Dina Standish, and Caua Reymond joins the cast.

The trailer has already got people talking, mostly for a moment in which Glenn Close slaps Sarah Paulson across the face. Paulson's character, Carr, declares war, which is a fair summary of the show's priorities. It is Ryan Murphy territory and it knows it.

The reviews of the first season were brutal. One outlet noted a rare zero percent fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, and GamesRadar compared the renewal to the Morbius effect, where mocking a thing makes people watch it. Yet Hulu reported a big premiere for the show and renewed it, so the audience clearly exists. A show can be critically hated and still be a hit.

I do not think the first season was good. I do think it was entertaining in the way a bad party can be, with an excellent cast doing their best and one or two scenes you replay for the wrong reasons. Season two seems to understand that tone and lean into it.

Are you watching it ironically or sincerely? I would love to know where you land.
