Dulquer Salmaan's next Telugu film has a date. Aakasamlo Oka Tara, which translates roughly as A Star in the Sky, is set for a worldwide release on November 20 in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi. A teaser followed the announcement and presents Dulquer's Krishna as a ray of hope for Ammulu's dreams beyond the stars.

Satvika Veeravalli plays opposite him, Shruti Haasan has what the reports call a key role, and G.V. Prakash Kumar is doing the music. The sources cannot agree on the genre. Pinkvilla calls it a romantic drama and Wikipedia calls it a science fiction comedy drama, and the title and teaser suggest the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Wikipedia also lists the film as still in post-production, which is a little worrying for a date three weeks away, though that page may simply be out of date. I would wait for a trailer before getting too confident.

Dulquer keeps moving between Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu, and a five-language release looks like a deliberate bet rather than an afterthought. Lucky Baskhar showed that a Telugu film with a Malayalam star could travel, and this seems to be the follow-up to that idea.

November 20 is a busy Friday, with Suryaa and Sunrise on the Reaping among others. Is a gentle romantic film the right counterprogramming, or does it get lost?
