Maddock Films announced on Tuesday that the Eetha trailer lands this Friday, October 30, and followed it with a new poster of Shraddha Kapoor looking nothing like the Stree version of herself. The film opens December 4, having moved from an August date to get out of a crowded summer, and it is now in a December that also has Dhurandhar's shadow and the King release on Christmas Eve.

Laxman Utekar directs. He made Mimi and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, both of which were sharper than their marketing, and Chhaava, which was something else entirely. Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are in the cast, and that pairing tells me this is a drama with teeth rather than a comedy. The reports say the trailer runs about three minutes and has a UA 16+ certificate, which for a Shraddha Kapoor film is new territory.

Kapoor has been coasting on Stree for two years, and I say that fondly, because Stree 2 was the biggest Hindi film of 2024 and she carried a lot of it. But she has not done a straight dramatic lead in a long time, and the poster suggests Eetha is one. The title means a brick, or a kiln, depending on who you ask, and the first-look images had a dusty, small-town feel to them.

The December 4 date is a week after Gunmaaster G9 and two weeks before Dunesday on the 18th, so there is a clear window for a mid-sized Hindi film that reviews well. Maddock has been careful about dates lately. They moved Eetha once to avoid a clash and I doubt they would put it here without confidence in the film.

I will have the trailer up on Friday. Are you a Shraddha Kapoor fan beyond the Stree films, or does she need this one to prove something?
