Drishyam 3 Just Became the First Ajay Devgn Film to Cross 500 Crore Worldwide

Vijay Salgaonkar has done it again. Drishyam 3: The Conclusion opened on October 2 with about 62 crore net in India and never really slowed down, passing 500 crore gross worldwide in 12 days. That makes it the first film of Ajay Devgn's career to hit half a billion globally, comfortably ahead of Singham Again, which finished around 372 crore. Only one other Indian film has crossed that line this year.

What strikes me is that this is a franchise built on talking, not fighting. There are no big action set pieces, just a family, a cover-up and a police force that has spent three films trying to prove what everyone already suspects. Audiences have followed that story for more than a decade, across the Malayalam originals and the Hindi remakes, and the word Conclusion in the title clearly pulled in people who wanted to see how it ends.

The overseas numbers were strong too, nearly 90 crore within the first week, which tells you the diaspora still turns out for a well-made thriller over a star vehicle. If this really is the last one, it is a graceful way to close. Did the ending satisfy you, or did it leave a door open?
